Durie Hill. The strike-out system will be used to indicate the intention of the voter. This means that the elector must, strike out the names of the candidates not required and leave untouched those for whom it is desired to vote.

Informal Voting. A question has arisen as to what constitutes an informal ballot paper. < Leaving untouched more than two i names on a paper will make it invalid. Striking out all the names or leaving the whole paper unmarked : will have the same effect. To be < strictly correct a voter should strike out four names and leave two untouched, but a paper which has five names struck out and one left untouched will not be invalid. Those eligible to vote are named on the Wanganui municipal rolls, in- 1 eluding Supplementary No. 2, which 1 closed on April 1. Those who have the franchise are people of not less than 21 years of age, who passed certain qualifications—that they own i freehold property in the city or are ratepayers, or occupiers, or have been living in Wanganui for three months and are of British birth. A husband and wife each have a vote provided the name of each appears on the roll.
