PROBLEMS IN THE NORTH ( ONI EREN(E ARKAN (i ED WHANGAREI. April 9. A conference of the Maori clergy and lay representatives of: the diocese of Auckland is to be held at OLiria on May 10, 11, and 12. The Bishop ol Aotearoa, the Rt. Rev. F. A. Bennett, will preside, and it is expected the medical officer of health fur Nortn Auckland, Dr. C. D. Gilberd, and Inspector Fox, in charge of the police in the area, will address the gathering on matters within their jurisdictions as they affect the Maori people. Prior to the conference Bishop Bennett will spend some days at Ahipara and Kaikohe, conducting a mission at these centres. An extensive tour of North Auckland is to commence at tne end of this week by Canon W. H. Cherrington, superintendent ot the Maori Mission in the diocese of Auckland, and the Rev. W. N. Panapa, Maori missioner at Auckland to discuss various matters in connection with the Church's work among the Maoris.
