NAZI RAIDS ON SCOTLAND
I SCAPA FLOW ATTACKED SEVEN MACHINES BELIEVED SHOT DOWN Received April 11, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, April 11. The Air Ministry stated that the enemy carried out a number of bombing raids on North Scotland last evening. Two Heinkels were shot down while attacking a convoy at the Moray Firth and it is believed a third was also destroyed. Later, the enemy attacked Scapa Flow in successive waves in large and , small formations. Bombs were dropped and machine-gun attacks carried out against Stromness and Kirkwa” but the raid was abortive. No «rships.. other ships or property was damaged. : The only casualty was a man slightly injured. Anti-aircraft guns opened ' fire and both the Fleet air arm and : fighter aircraft were sent up. It is ; certain three enemy bombers were I brought down by anti-aircraft fire, one by fighter aircraft, and two more [ were severely damaged and were unlikely lo reach their bases.
