WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Wednesday, April 10 3 p.m. General Situation.—The recent depression is moving away slowly to the east and an anti-cyclone extends on to New Zealand from the Western Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: Southerly to westerly prevailing, strong at first in exposed positions from Cook Strait northwards, but gradually decreasing and otherwise light to fresh in force. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough but decreasing about Cook Strait, north of Farewell Spit and between East Cape and Kaikoura. elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate fresh but decreasing south-westerly winds; moderate seas. Weather: Changeable in eastern areas between East Cape and Cook Strait with occasional showers, but improving. Elsewhere mainly fair to fine. Temperatures cool to moderate with some frosts inland in the south to-night. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, reports as follows for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday:—Hours of sunshine, nil. Rainfall, .sin. Maximum temperature, 62deg. Fahr.; minimum temperature, 53deg. Fahr.
