WANGANUI SALE PRICES GENERALLY FIRM VALUES FOLLOW QUALITY Messrs. Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., report on the stock sale held yesterday: ”To a good attendance we offered an average yarding in ali sections, prices generally fully firm on last week. The quality of the fat sheep and cattle was not up to last week’s yarding, but realisations were on a firm basis, values being relative to quality ana finish. Vealers were well up to late rates, as also were all classes of pigs, with the exception of small and hard-done weaners, which were down considerably on last week. Quotations are as follow: — Sheep. —Prime wethers, 24s to 265; fat, 22s to 23s 9d; Down cross, 17s lOd to 20s 6d; prime ewes, 17s to 20s 8d; fat, 15s 6d to 16s 9d; light, 14s to 15s 3d; fat lambs, 17s to 23s 9d; breeding ewes, mated Downs, 18s to 23s 6d; ewe lambs, 20s lOd to 235; small, 13s to 15s 6d; wether lambs, to 15s; culls, 8s Scl to 10s 2d; b.f. Jambs, 13s Id; two-tooth ewes, to 255; cull ewe lambs, 7s 4d to 12s 7d. Extra choice ox beef sold at 35s per lOOlbs., choice and prime, 30s to 345; prime cow and heifer beef, 27s to 31s; ordinary, 21s to 275. Extra heavy steers, £l3 to £l3 ss; heavy, £l2 5s to £l3; medium, £ll 5s to £l2 ss; light, £lO to £ll 2s 6d; .small and unfinished, £5 to £9 10s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £8 15s to £9 10s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £8 15s to £9 10s; heavy, £7 10s to £8 15s; medium, £6 10s to £7 10s; light, £5 to £6 7s 6d; unfinished, £3 to £5. The calf market was oversupplied and values eased as the sale progressed. Runners, £3 to £7 12s 6ci: heavy vealers, £3 15s to £4 9s; medium, £3 to £3 14s; light, £2 14s to £3 8s: smaller, £2 5s to £2 14s; small, 18s to £2 2s; bobby and rough, 3s to £1 10s. A full pig entry sold under keen competition, late rates being maintained. Baconers averaged 6.id to 6id per lb., and porkers 6id to 6:id. A heavy sheep yarding sold freely at late rates. Extra heavy prime wethers, 28s to 30s; medium, 25s to 265; light, 23s to 255; small and unfinished, 18s to 22s 6d; extra heavy prime young and maiden ewes, 23s to 25s 6d; heavy, 21s to 22s 6d; medium, 19s to 20s 6d; light, 12s to 18s 6d; unfinished, 3s to 14s 6d. An average entry of lambs sold freely at ruling rates. Extra heavy prime lambs. 26s 6d to 29s 9d; heavy.. 24s 9d to 26s 6d; medium. 22s 6d to 24s 9d; light, 20s to 225; unfinished, 5s to 19s 6d’.'
