EASTER BOWLING

Wanganui Centre’s Tournament SECTION PLAY CONCLUDES TO-DAY finals for to-morrow The Wanganui Bowling Centre’s Easter tournament was continued under perfect weather conditions on Saturday, section play being advanced a further stage. Players appreciated the warm sunny weather which gave them much enjoyment in their games. As on the previous day there were many close finishes, but there was also some big scoring, one team securing 7,6, 5, 4 on each of four consecutive ends. The last three rounds of section play will be completed today. Teams qualifying will assemble on St. John’s green to-morrow at 8.45 a.m. to start post-section play, which will be on the one-life system. The visiting teams are giving a very good account of themselves, the most outstanding rink being that skipped by Bailey, of Khandallah, who have won all six games played. Hastings, of the Newtown Club, has only suffered one loss. Cathie, of Hataitai, and Fuller, of Waitara, have had four wins each. It will be remembered that Fuller won the Easter tournament of 1936. A rink from West End, New Plymouth, consists of the Jackson Jun. They, like Davis of StratJackson Jr. They, like Davis of Stratford, have not been so fortunate, having lost three each. Andrews, also from Waitara, has to be content so far with two wins. Oliver, another Waitara player, has not been so fortunate as his club-mates and finds difficulty in getting a start. Details of Saturday’s play are:—
