AMPLE STOCKS OF BUTTER AND BACON EXTENSION OF RESTRICTIONS DENTED [ British Official Wireless. ] RUGBY, March 18. Stocks in hand and in sight, which were low when rationing of butter was first introduced, have steadily accumulated since, and with imports i from New Zealand and Australia ; reaching their peak doubling of the , ration as from next Monday is re- 1 garded by the Ministry of Food as ; amply justified. Stocks of bacon available are also i considered satisfactory and supplies ■ have been coming in well during the i last few months, despite the doubling of the ration within a fortnight of the introduction of the system. Reports that stricter rationing of , commodities already a’fected and its [ extension to others are in prospect ' are authoritatively denied. The first week of meat rationing ft passed satisfactorily, and in the ( opinion of the Food Ministry retail . butchers have dealt with the situa- [ tion extremely well. The only diffi- ; cullies encountered were the result , of heavy pressure on shops through concentrated buying at tbz week-end. (
