After general business had been dealt with, Mrs. Hussey reported on her visit to the meeting of the subbranch at Raetihi and as a result ot this visit the committee look forward to some assistance from the Raetihi branch towards the purchase of a car for the use of the Plunket nurse. There was much discussion on the baby photographic competition now running and the “Paddy's Market,” which has been arranged by the committee for the wind-up of the competition. It is proposed to have a produce stall, cake and sweet stall, and fancy stall. Afternoon tea will be provided and there will be games, etc. for the children. The “Paddy’s Market’’ will be held in the Majestic Theatre on the afternoon and evening of March 9, and the committee M ill be glad of any contribution from the public. The public is also asked to help with the baby competition by voting for any babies whose photos will be on display in Mrs. Havler’s shop window. On the day after the monthly meeting, the president and secretary attended a meeting of the Women's Institute at Rangataua for the purpose of arousing interest in the Plunket movement and to explain the baby photographic competition. Mrs. Hussey was given a very attentive hearing. So great was the interest aroused that a sub-branch was formed with Mrs. Stratford as president and Mrs. Dinton as secretary. The formation of a sub-branch at Rangataua will greatly assist the work of the Ohakune branch, and the new members have promised their wholehearted support in the running of the baby competition.
