ALLIED REQUIREMENTS FROM U.S.A. j VASTLY INCREASED ORDERS (By Telegraph Press Association—Copyright.) Received Jan. 19, 1.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Jan. 18. ( The Associated Press of America’s Washington correspondent says it is authoritatively learned that the British and French proposed to triple I heir present orders for Americanmade warplanes, subject io a conference between Mr. Roosevelt. Mr. Morgan! hau and Army and Navy officials. The Allies have notified the United States that they are contemplating , ordering for speedy delivery at i 3000 planes and even more aircraft motors. According to reliable sources this will mean a further expansion of the , industry, which already is working overtime on domestic and foreign military contracts. Officials indicated strongly, however, that such expansion, if orderly, would be welcomed as aiding national defence, but it would involve numerous problems of taxation and financing. Engines will be the biggest problem since a material expansion of the existing plants promises to require foreign financing, which will raise tax complexities with the Treasury.
