WEATHER FORECAST
-Meteorological umce, Wellington, inursuay, January ic>, o p.m. General Situation.—While disturbed conditions continue in the extreme north of the North Island, an anti-cyclone still covers the New Zealand area, highest pressures being found in the far south. Forecast.—Winds: From an easterly quarter predominating, moderate to fresh in force north of New Plymouth and Napier and freshening at times along the east coast, otherwise light or moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters): Slight on the west coast, moderate on the east. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh east to south-east winds and moderate to rather rough seas in the northern portion, light and variable u t seas in the southern. Weather: Unsettled over the northern half of the North Island with scattered rain, more especially in. the Auckland Peninsula, elsewhere mainly fair to line but with the possibility of mist or drizzle developing later on the east coast of the South Island. Temperatures mild t warm. Time of sunset to-day. 7.34 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.9 a.m. Phases of the Moon for January.—Last Quarter, January 2; New Moon, January 10; First Quarter, January 18; Full Moon, January 25.
