U.S. APPOINTMENTS
NOMINATIONS MADE BY PRESIDENT NEW MINISTER TO CANADA WASHINGTON. Jan. 4. The United States President, Mr. Franklin Roosevelt, nominated the Attorney-General, Mr. Frank Murphy, to be a Supreme Court President and nomic-'ed the Solicitor-General, Mr. Robert Jackson, as Attorney-General. Mr. James H. R. Cromwell, economist husband of Doris Duke, the world’s richest girl, has been nominated by Mr. Roosevelt as Minister to Canada.
