DAY OF THANKSGIVING

CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS CHURCH OF ENGLAND Special services will be held 10-mor-row, throughout the Church of England in New Zealand, to commemorate the centenary of the Dominion. The Bench of Bishops has issued a special service sheet for this special clay of thanksgiving “For the mercies of God vouchsafed to our Colony and

Dominion during the first hundred years ot its ordered national life.” The service includes special prayers and hymns, and also the Venite, Te Deum, and Jubilate. The First Lesson is taken from Deuteronomy VIII, and the Second Lesson from the Epistle to the Romans, XII. The special service at' Christ , Church, Victoria Avenue, will be at \ 1 p.m., and invitations have been issued to the Mayor and city councillors, the various county councils and other organisations. Old settlers are earnestly invited to join in the thanksgiving service, and a full attendance is desired for this, the first of the centennial celebrations in Wanganui. The services at St.

Church, Durie Hill, will be Holy Communion at 8 a.m., Choral Communion at 11 a.m., and service or thanksgiving at 7 p.m. At St. Mary's, Upokongaro, there will be a service of at 7 D.m.
