MOTORIST GAOLED (Own Correspondent) WAVERLEY, Jan. 5. ' At the Waverley Court, Rang! 'Okeroa, Waitotara, was charged with | being intoxicated while in charge of [a car in the main street of Waverley on December 23. He was sentenced to I ten days’ imprisonment and his driver’s licence was cancelled till June |l, 1941. GIFT EVENING i On Thursday a gift evening was ; held at the “Manse” by the Girls’ I Auxiliary and friends in honour of Miss Jean Morrison, whose marriage takes place this month. The drawing I room was beautifully decorated with I dahlias and carnations. Several interesting and amusing competitions vvere held during the evening. Miss E. Wall, president of the Giris’ Auxiliary, asked Miss Morrison to accept the gifts with the best wishes of all those present and wished her every happiness for the future. Miss Morrison, replying, thanked everyone for the useful gifts. The guest of honour wore a frock of brightly-patterned sheer. Among those present were: Mesdames E. R. E. Ross, G. McGregor, W. Muir, A. E. Castle, D. Robertson, R. McDonald, R. Wall, Misses Jean Morrison, Jean McDonald, Anne Davis, Vivienne Aiken, Dulcie Prout, Alma Wail, Nancy Heginbotham. Margaret Middleton.
