RACING AT ELLERSLIE

KING'S PLATE; SUMMER CUP PROSPECTS AND FIELDS TO DAY The Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting will be advanced a .urtiier stage at Ellerslie to-day, when he weighi-ior-age mile, the King’s Plate, and the Summer Cup, a thous-and-pounder over ten furlongs, will be the feature events. The clash between Beaulivre, Beau Vite and Beaupartir, three outstanding sons of Beau Pere, will make the King’s Plate one of the best mile attractions ever staged at Ellerslie. Beaulivre should retain his unbeaten status as a three-year-old, but the hancc.s axe tnat ne will be extended by Beau Vite. The Summer Cup brings together a number of Auckland Cup candidates over a shorter distance. Beau Repaire won the Christmas Handicap on .'uesday and that should Drove a guide for the Summer Cup. Gladynev, winner of the Te Awamutu Cup, may be his most dangerous opponent, with Balinavar and Baran likely to best the favourite. The following are likely to be well supported in their respective engagements to-day:— Fergusson Handicap. Meadow, Serenata, Tea Gong. Ponsonby Hurdles.—Chikara, Inness Lad. De Friend. King’s Plate.—Beaulivre, Beau Vite. Summer Cup. —Beau Repaire, Gladynev, Baran. Criterion Handicap. Queen City, Princess Vai, Starbright. Electric Handicap.—Amigo, Farland, Brunhild. Plunket Handicap.—Full Hand, Valmint, Mintlaw. The following is the list o[ acceptances (per Press Association): 11.45 FERGUSSON HANDICAP. (Of £350; one mile).
