THE MEDITERRANEAN HELD A PRISONER "ARMED HANDS OF BRITAIN” ROME. Dec. 21. The Italian publicist, Signor Gayda, says that Italy demands a free outlet from the Mediterranean. She recognises British rights, hut Italy’s vital interests must be respected. She is at present held a prisoner in (he Mediterranean. The armed hands of Britain hold all the gateways to Gibraltar, the Suez Canal, and the Dardanelles. LONG CONVERSATION MUSSOLINI AND HIMMLER TYROL AGREEMENT SIGNED Received Dec. 22. 6.30 p.m. ROME, Dec. 21. Signor Mussolini received Herr Himmler to-day. A news agency says that he had a long, cordial conversation. Herr Himmler and the Italian Un-der-Secretary for the Interior signed an agreement under which Germans resident in the Tyrol will vote by December 31 whether they will return Io Germany or assume Italian citizenship. It is reliably stated, although the ! newspapers do not mention Herr ! Himmler’s arrival, that he is arranging the liquidation of holdings of Germans being repatriated at the end of the month.
