THE WANGANUI SALE CLOSING SALE FOR YEAR Freeman R. Jackson’s final Wanganui stock sale of the year was confined almost entirely to fat stock. Only a few pens of store cattle and medium Romney lambs were offered. The demand for fat cattle and fat sheep was limited but a good entry of tat lambs sold at slightly above export rates. Ah classes of pigs were firm st late rates. * The opening sale for 1940 will be held on January 10. Prices yesterday were: - Sheep.—Fat lambs, 22s 245; light, 18s, 21s: fat wethers. 22s 6d, 23s 9d; light, 18s. 21s; fat ewes, 14s. 15s 6d; medium Romney woolly ewe lambs. 13s Id; do., wether, 7s Id; m.s. culls, i 5s Id. Cattle.— Fat P.A. cows, £7 10s. £8 j 2s 6d; prime ex-dairy cows, extra, to £8; fat, £4, £5 ss: heifers. £6 5s £7 7s 6d; good Jersey weaner heifers £1 14s. £1 15s. Pigs.—Light baconers. £3; porkers. £2, £2 Ils; light, 335, 38s; sows to farrow. £2 7s. £2 14s; stores, 225. 275; good weaners, 225, 24s 6d; good aver- , age. 14s 6d, 20s.
