ENGINES STILL GIVE TROUBLE
MAUI POMARE SIGNALS FOR ASSISTANCE DRAGGED TO SAFETY BY TUGS AND LAUNCH 1 Per Press Association 1 WELLINGTON. Dee. 20. The Maui Pomace left her berth this morning to test her engines after an extensive overhaul. Near Point Halswell the engines gave trouble I an anchor was dropped, but there was a fairly strong set and the ship was forced towards the shore. She signalled fur a tug and the launch Arahina and the tugs Toia and Natone all went to her assistance and are still attached by lines to the Maui Pomare which is slowly being dragged to safety.
