CHRISTMAS TREE PARTY
DENLAIR CHILDREN ENTERTAINED 'rhe Fordell Public Hall presented a festive scene when more than 100 children from the Public Works Department settlement in Deniair were entertained at the annual Christmas party. A large Christmas tree decorated and laden with varied Christmas gifts, was arranged in the centre of (he hall, where coloured streamers added to the gaiety of the scene. The children all wore bright paper hats. A large committee was in charge of the arrangements and many parents were present. Santa Claus. Mr. J. Kerr, presented the gifts to the Tittle guests, and was kept busy for a long time. A Christmas gift from the tree was also sent to Mr. E. G. Sutherland, who was the originator of the Christmas tree party, and’ who has been in hospital for a long time. After receiving their gifts, the children were entertained at afternoon tea, including ice-creams, fruit and other treats. Afternoon tea was served to the adults, also. The children were entertained out of doors with a lengthy programme of racing events, these being interspersed with lollie scrambles and various treats. The children also enjoyed la motor ride, being transported from and to their homes by Mr. H. J. Cox.
