MAJOR CONFLICT
SOVIET MAY BECOME INVOLVED LACK OF ADROITNESS i i By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) Received Dec. 8, 6.35 p.m. NEW Y'ORK, Dec. 7 The New York Times Moscow correspondent, Mr. G. E. R. Gedye, says: i “Russia’s blockade again suggests an I unexpected lack of adroitness. The lines on which the Finnish conflict are developing indicate that control may escape the Soviet's hands and she will find herself involved in a major coni Act, which experienced circles believe will be the reverse of Stalin's intentions and will be utterly contradictory to the Soviet’s vital interests. It is possible, also, to consider the article on Rumania as evidence of growing recklessness, although the Rumanians stress that the Soviet avoided official backing, as would have been the case if it had been published in the Izvestia or Pravda. It was most probably in the nature of a balloon to observe the Rumanian reaction and model Russian policy accordingly. The article can be disowned, as one in the Izvestia or Pravda could not, but if it is seen that the Rumanians are seriously alarmed and are without backing, it might be followed later by others more menacing and more authoritative”
