Meteorological Office, Wellington. Thursday, Dec. 7, 4 p.m. General Situation. —.An extensive depression is crossing the Dominion, the lowest pressures at 3 p.m. being in Canterbury. Forecast.—Winds: Strong, northerly at first in eastern portions of the country, but a change to moderate to fresh westerly or southwesterly advancing from the west. Seas (New Zealand waters): Moderate on east coast, rather rough to rough but decreasing on the west coast. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh west to south winds and moderate to rather rough seas. Weather: Changeable, with showers at times in most districts, but conditions improving later except in the far south-west. Temperatures moderate to cool. The New Zealand Friends' School, St. John’s Hill, reports as follows for 24 hours ended 6 p.m. yesterday: Hours of sunshine, 1 hour 10 minutes. Rainfall, .38 inches. Maximum temperature, 69deg. Fahr.; minimum temperature, 57deg. Fahr.
