COOK’S GARDENS

NEW NELSON STREET ENTRANCE SUM OF £2OO AVAILABLE FROM FIRE BRIGADES. A sum of £2OO has been made available to the Wanganui City Council as a result of the New Zealand United Fire Brigades’ demonstration in Waßganui last March. It was decided by the council last night to spend this sum in providing new entrance gates in Nelson Street. Plans drawn by the Wanganui city engineer (Mr. L. F. Row) have been approved, both by the council and Mr. A. E. Halligan, who was chairman of the demonstration committee. The Mayer (Mr. W. J. Rogers) said last night, moving that the work be done, that he hop'd to tie it up with the celebration of the city’s centenary in March.
