CHORAL WEDDING

HAY-CAMPBELL—CAREY VVeaiing an unusual eown of white lace over silver lame, Anthea Joan, only daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. F. W. Carey, was married to Thomas Neil, only son of Mrs. and the late Mr. C. D. riay-Campbell. The marriage, which took place in the chapel oi the Collegiate School, of which the bridegroom is a former pupil, was solemnised on Saturday afternoon, and united two families, who have tong ocen resident in Wanganui. ■ The Rev. li. Vv. Austin performed the cciemony and Mr. Lance Craig played the organ, the school chd.r being in attendance. Large bowls of arum lilies and Christmas lilies decorated the chapci and were arranged b\ Mrs. H. vV. Austin and Mrs. A. 11. E. Wall. The bride’s gown of leaf patterned lace was cut on charming but simple lines witii a court train lalling from the waist and lined with silver lame. The corsage was fashioned with a heart-shaped neckline and the slimfitting skirt jell from a high rounded waistline. The long sleeves, which were made with a slight iulmess uc Ihe top, were fitting to the hand and finished with a peak. Her long, billowing veil of wmte tulle, which was worn over the face on entering the chapel, was held to the head oy a coronet of orange blossom. Her only ornament was a triple string of pearls. Her exquisite bouquet was alpwhite, and was comprised ol water liiles and sweet peas. She was attended by Misses Muriel Morrison v Master ton/ and Stella Meuli (Wanganui;, who wore frocks of iove-in-the-mist blue stiffened net. The bodices were shirred with an offshoulder neckline edged with a frill, and the skirts fell from lilting waistlines into very full bouffant skirts. They wore filigree silver ear-rings and brooches, and on their heads were tiny bands of pink-toned flowers. They carried trailing bouquets ol the palest pink water lilies, roses, carnations, and touches of blue introduced j with love-in-the-mist. The bride was given away by tier uncle, Dr. Maurice Earle, and attending tne bridegroom were Mr. Nelson Meuli as best man, and Mr. Hugh Millward as groomsman. The ushers were Messrs, Norman Cullen ana Bayly Haworth. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the brides mother, the various rooms looking charming in their summer iloral decorations, and after being received the guests proceeded to a marquee which was erected on the lawn for the weding breakfast. The Iloral decorations in the marquee consisted of tali vases of silvered leaves, delphiniums, and water lilies, and at the entrance a bird bath was arranged with masses of pink and while roses. The decorations were the work of Mrs. Dorothy l Christie and Mis. Douglas Wilson. ; Mrs. Carey received Ihe guests jsmartly attired in a two-piece anklelength frock of Loral chiffon in tones of lettuce green, reda and beige on a background of black. The skirt was softly draped and the coatee featured elbow length puffed sleeves and tine shirring at the shoulders. Her picture hat was of line black straw and she carried a bouquet of red roses. She was assisted by the bridegrooms mother, Mrs. Hay-Campbell, who chose a full-length model frock of beige georgette fashioned with a yoke lof matching lace and insertions of dace in the skirt. The elbow-length sleeves were puffed, and her fine straw hat was clover shaded. She carried a posy of carnations in clover tonings. Tne bride travelled in a three-piece .suit, the "swagger” coatee and sunray pleated skirt being of honey gold line wool, and the dainty silk blouse in iloral tonings of honey gold, black and white. Her smart straw hat featured a rolled brim and a crown of honey gold and black "waffled” ribbon. Her accessories were black. Mr. and Mrs. T. N. Hay-Campbell will reside in Wanganui.
