FIRST BATCH SINCE CUTBREAK GF WAR SEVENTEEN YOUNG MEN FAREWELL BY AIR CHIEF. I Per Press Association ] AUCKLAND, Dec. 4. “The service you are going to is a fine one. It has a brief but brilliant tradition.” So said Group-Captain L. ; M. Isitt. R.N.Z.A.F., acting Chief of the Air Staff, this morning when farewell 17 young officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, the first to leave the Dominion for service abroad since the war began. “You have completed your training here, but don't forget that training is only the beginning; you are learning all the time; improve your gunnery 1 and navigation as on those your suc- ■ cess and safety will depend.” continued Group-Captain Isitt. He also stressed the importance of preparation on the ground and also of doing any job given them for the sake of the job. and might make. “In ’ that way’ you will become better officers,” he concluded. “I wish you all good luck.” The young men. all with the rank of acting Pilot-Officer, are M.
