WANGANUI LADIES' CLUB CANADIAN FOURSOME DRAW FOR CLOSING DAY. The Wanganui Ladies’ Golf Club will close their 1939 season on Wednesday, November 1, when a Canadian foursome will be played. This will be followed by the presentation of prizes and the annual general meeting, to be held at 3.30 p.m. Following is the draw for the Canadian foursome: Miss J. Currie and Miss A. Mitchell v. MATCH AT WAVERLEY OLD PI.AYERS' REVMON. When Seafield Golf Club closed down on October 31. 1938. the old club presented a cup to the Waverley Golf Club, to be called the Seafield Memorial Cup," for an annual match to be played between a team of old Seafield players and the Waverley Club. The first match to be played at Waverley. The return match is to be | placed next year al Seafieid. The losers are to have the winners’ name engraved on the cup. Yesterday a team of 17 old Seafield players journeyed to Waverley to play the first match. Although a si iff cold wind enme up in the afternoon, the day as a whole was fine, and the players h?.d a most enjoyable lime. In the morning four-ball best-ball games were played on current handicap. The results are as follow, the Waverley players being mentioned first in each instance:--I. D. Parsons and B. W. Kitto Breaks Waverley Course Record. For some years ]. D. Parsons has held the Waverley course rc-ord of 74. The par of the course is 76 and R. F. Kitto’s round of 72 was a great performance on a strange course. Mr. N. Bromley welcomed the visitors on behalf of the War-crloy Club and expressed the pleasure it gave Waverley to have a team of their old. friends playing again on their onurs". Mr. B. Harvey, president of the Waverley Club, also expressed the pleasure it gave them to welcome the visitois. Mr. Jack Goss replied on behalf of Seafield and said it was in 1995 v hen he first played against Waverley on the old Maroro links and there were some of tne old players still active in Wanganui—R. M. Peattie, Sam Irwin, C. G. Young and C. S. Brown. He also thanked the Waverley Chib for the happy time they had given the Seafield players and especially thanked the ladies for thp excellent afternoon tea they had provided. ’ ’ . I ■
STABLEFORD BOGEY SCORES SENIOR LADIES' TITLE A .Stableford bogey was played by the Tawhero Golf Club on Saturday. The oest card returned in the ladies’ section was Miss Bracken's 8—23—31. In the men's section, A. Sparks was the winner with 23—10—33. The final of the senior ladies' championship was also played and Miss N. Temperton won from Mrs. Takarangi, 4 up and 3 to play. This is the third year that this fine young player has won the championship and congratulations were extended on such a fine
