Meteorological Office, Wellington, Friday, October 13, 3 p.m. General Situation.—Pressure is high over the South Island, while a depression which is iorming near Cape Maria Van Dieman is moving south-eastward on to the North Island. Forecast.—Winds: Moderate to strong southerly to easterly continuing in the central provinces, elsewhere moderate north-easterly changing to westerly later in the northern portion of the North Island. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura. otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate southerly winds and moderate seas, but a change to freshening northerlies advancing across the southern portion. Weather: Continuing fair over most of the South Island, but becoming unsettled again over the North Island, with rain spreading from the north and possibly extending as far as Nelson and Marlborough. Some heavy falls in the Auckland and Hawke's Bay provinces. Cool temperatures. The New Zealand Friends’ School.
