PREPARING FOR TRENTHAM THURSDAY’S GALLOPS Another line gallop by Beaupartir this time with The Bigot as a companion, was the feature of Tnursday’s programme at Awapuni. It was over seven furlongs on the plougn, which was damp with dew. Beaupartir was ridden by R. B. Ireland and The Bigot by B. H. Morris. They were away to an even start and after running to the three in 50 tney came home easily in 42a to complete in 1.32 i. They went smoothly throughout and they were under no pressure at the finish. Beaupartir u improving all the time and Tne Bigot, cannot be far from his top form Beaupartir is to be ridden by W Jenkins at Trentham. Old Surrey (P. Rae) galloped seven on his own and he took 53 for tne first half-mile, coming home well in 41 to complete in 1.34. He is in great, order at present, and the schooling he had has done him no harm. Disdain and Wings ot Song were Jet off with pace work and Laugning Lass jogged round a couple of times. Clarion Call (P. Jarvis) galloped six on the plough, covering tne last live in 1.10 2-5, and Malik Kalur (B. H. Morris) was speeded up for thp run in. Du Maurier (S. Anderson) sprinted half a mile in 56 2-5 for the first two Aurora’s Star was worked easily ove-. six, the last three taking 43 2-o, and Kahui (B. Brown) covered six in 1.25, finishing strongly. Sceptre (Bucnanan) moved nicelj over six in 1.25 L never being off the bit, ana Little Dorrit (Ireland) was on the bit in recording 1.22 1-5 for six. Sudan (Buchanan) covered the same distance in 1.21. An interesting flutter was that of Blue Steel (J. Chaplin) and Bridegroom (W. <l. McDowell), who were worked in 54 2-5 and they were not ridden out over seven. They covered the first four to complete the full distance in 1.42, time they could have cut down quite a lot. On the Course Proper There were two gallops on the course proper where ihe flags were 33 feet out. and the going was firm. The first was between Taitama (B. 11. Morris) and Royal Sign (P. Jarvis) IL was over half a mile and from a standing start they came home easily to complete in 53 3-5. Colonel Bogey (E. Temperion) sprinted live, putting more dash into his work. He ran the first three in 40 and he covered the full distance in 1.6 2-5. I Wellington Riding Engagements Riding engagements announced for Wellington are; — W.
