The former President Mr. Herbert Hoover made a statement that American sympathies are with the democracies, but "America must keep out of war.” THE GERMAN ATTACK I TREACHEROUSLY LAUNCHED Received Sept. 3, 6.30 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 2. A Polish Embassy statement says , it is officially reported that the German attack was treacherously launched a few hours after the Polish Ambassador in Berlin informed the Reich that Poland was sympathetic to the peace efforts of Britain. Simultaneous action included tankattacks on ihree fronts and aggression on all points, which met with resolute defence, notably by the garrison at Westerplatte.
