WAINUI BEATS RANGITIKEI r ! SOME BRILLIANT BACK MOVEMENTS (Own Correspondent.) UPOKONGARO, July 23. Wainui-a-Rua resisted another challenge for the Whenuaroa Shield last Saturday when they met and defeated the Rangitikei Maori team by 9 points to nil. The game was interesting throughout r.r.d the ground being in perfect order there were at times some sparkling back movements, Wainui-a-Rua players excelling themselves in this department. | Rangitikei (green) kicked off with the sun in their eyes and immediately carried play into Wainui territory, fL where, from a penalty to Rangitikei, m C. A penalty was awarded to Rangitikei and Thompson ie gave temporary relief with the kick. Wainui, however, kept up the pressure and Ngatoa, picking up the ball Is in the loose, broke away. He passed le to Apou who scored well out. Ngatoa failed with the kick.--Wanui 3, Rangitikei 0. Stirred by this success Waiie nui again invaded Rangitikei territory, . ( but good line-kicking by Kumeroa relieved. Wainui were now throwing ie the ball about and Tinirau, who was ic playing a great game as half-back, set his backs going at every opportunity. The Rangitikei defence, however, was ie good.
