In the Davis Cup singles finals against Philippines, r.t Long Beach, Bromwich (Australia) defeated Sanchez (Philippines), 6-1. 6-1, 6-3, and Quist (Australia) defeated Ampon (Philippines), 7-5, 6-4, 6-3. Ampon gave another remarkable exhibition of returning everything, but the Australian was just too powerful. Quist had difficulty with his overhead shots, but his ground strokes were working well and proved sufficient u. beat the F’ lpino handfly. In the first set, Quist won the first four games. Ampon then picked up his pace and took three in success;.)!.
