Mr. F. H. Buss, Mayor of Bundaberg, Queensland, and Mrs. Buss, arrived at Auckland by the Tasman on Thursday in the course of a holiday ; tour. Mr. James Melling, town clerk of Auckland, has now practically recovered from his serious illness after an accident, and he hopes Io be able to resume his duties this week. Mr. H. J. Evans, associate to (he Hon. Mr. Justice Smith, has been admitted by His Honour as a barrister and solicitor, on the application of Mr. E. D. Blundell. The Rev. W. J. Westerman, Sydney, arrived at Auckland by the Matua on Thursday after inspecting the Seventh Day Adventist mission stations in Tonga and Samoa. He will sail ny the Wanganella next Thursday for Sydney. Mr. J. S. Brigham, who was for many years town clerk of Auckland and a former city treasurer, was appointed recently to the Board of City Sinking Fund Commissioners. Auckland. He succeeds the laic Sir George Wilson. Dr. E. Hees, Wiesbaden, Germany, author of several works on research in gynaecology, and Frau Hees arrived at Auckland by the Tasman from Batavia on Thursdav in the course of a world lour. They will leave for Sydney by Ihc Monterey on August 4. Mr. A. I. Johns, general manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company, of Auckland, arrived in Wanganui on Friday and left for Auckland again last night. He was at one time chief clerk in the Wanganui branch office of the company. Mr. Johns recently returned from a visit to the East, Europe. Great Britain and America. Miss K. M. Norris, who for the past, nine years has been on the staff of the money order and savings bank department of the Post and Telegraph Department in Wanganui, and who is shortly to be married, was farewelled by members of the staff. Mr. A. Pellow, Chief Postmaster, presented Miss Norris with a chiming clock. Mr. H. J. Sanders, accountant of the savings bank and money order department. Mr. W. Cook, assistant accountant, ■ Mr. D. R. Strang, supervisor, Mr. L. | Fields, examiner, and Mr. H. R. Ogg, , representing the clerical branch, also spoke.
