Selection of a city clubs' team Io challenge Taihape lor Ihe Pownall Trophy, at Taihape, next Saturday, took considerably more time than choice of the side to met Ashbur ton, the work falling on Mr. Whiling, sole selector for the city clubs. Mr. Whiting's team has been chosen entirely from clubs in the city, that instruction having been given to avoid travelling expenses as much as possible in bringing the Waverley players in and sending them home again after the match. Apart from that the idea has been to retain the old Metropolitan Union’s status in selecting a team to play for a trophy which was presented to encourage Ihe sub-unions in keen rivalry. The team to play at Taihape Full-back: A. Duncan (P>. Three-quarters: S. Leydon (K>, W. McPike (P), R. Grace (WOB). Five-eighths: A. E. McCormick (TOB), F. 'Thompson <K» capt. Half-back: E.
