He was president of the International Hislorw Congress since 1933. and as a lecturer al Stanford University «U.S.A.» in 1936. BRIGADIER-GENERAL (. G. BRI ( E. LONDON. July 12. _ - dier-General Hon. Charles Granville Bruce. Brigad>r-Gcneral Bruce had a distinguished war record in India prior to the Great War. and in the latter struggle he commanded the 1 6th Gurkah Rifles in Egypt. IF served throughout the War and was mentioned in despatches twice in the Dardanelles campaign. Later he served with various Indian forces in the Afghan and the Waziristan areas, and retired in 1920. He was chief of the Mt. Everest expedition in 1922 and 1924. He was a well-known scholar, too. and held several honorary degrees.
