the New Zealand championships held at Palmerston, Mr. McClymont bringing honour to the association by annexing the handicap singles and, in consequence, has had his handicap reduced to minus 1. Congratulations are extended to him on his success, and on being the first of our players to reach the coveted distinction of being a minus player. The sliver buttons 'Nvere competed for in March, Mr. Ogier (Durie Hill) winning the A grade with Mrs. Jarvie (Wanganui) runner-up, Mrs. Burling (Wanganui) the B grade with Mrs. Lynch (Gonville) runner-up, and the C grade by Mrs. Downey (Aramoho) with Mrs. Carline (Gonville) runnerup. Mrs. Crawford has been such an outstanding worker for the cause of croquet and has presented a cup, so the executive decided to call it the Crawford Cup. This cup is for competition amongst club teams of A grade players and has taken the place of the McLeod Cup. Taihape has won it from Mangaweka and has successfully held it throughout the season, winning five challenge matches—against Gonville (2), Mangaweka (2) and Wanganui—a very fine performance. An equally good record has been established by Wanganui East, who have held the Wedderspoon Cup throughout the season, with wins against Gonville, Marton. Taihape, Aramoho and Waverley. At the end' of the season Aramoho challenged again and was successful, thus holding the cup till next season.
