ALLEGED STATEMENT OP CAPTAIN M. COM PER EVIDENCE AT INQUEST LONDON, June 20. At the inquest into the death of the flier, Captain Nicholas Comper, who was found unconscious in Hythe, and taken to hospital, where he died from

| a fracture of the base of the skull, a verdict was returned that death was caused by compression of the brain following a fall as the result of a blow on the jaw. A witness testified that Comper lighted a firework in Ihe street, and a man walked over and struck him on the jaw. The assailant alleged that Comper said, "I'm an I.R.A. (Irish Republican Army) man." The assailant thought he was setting off a bomb.
