CAR CONVERSIONS

KEYS NOT REMOVED A.A. PATROLS TO ISSUE REMINDERS The patrol officers of the Automobile Association (Wanganui) will be provided in the near future with small tags to attach to motor vehicles whose drivers have not removed the ignition key. This decision was made at last night’s meeting of the executive on the motion of Dr, E. E. Porritt, president of the North Island Motor Union. Dr. Porritt said that the practice was followed by the Auckland patrols and would be of assistance in reducing the prevalence of car conversions or, what he termed, car thefts. Dr. Porritt said that the notice would remind the driver of the vehicle that it was safer to remove I the ignition key when leaving it parked.
