DELIGHTED WITH TOUR

YOUNG AUSTRALIAN VISITORS “Not. only theatrical successes but a fine educational experience is being enjoyed by the Young Australian Revue in the tour of New Zealand,” said the manager, Mr. E. R. Marie, on his arrival in Wanganui yesterday from Wellington. Mr. Marie said the boys were delighted with their trip through the Eglinton Valley, visiting the glorious lakes, and were thrilled to have seen the Homer tunnel. One of their greatest experiences had been an air trip to Ihe Franz Josef Glacier while their journeys by road through the Buller Gorge and other scenic marvels had confirmed them as great boosters for New Zealand. They had been south as far as Invercargill and had been very intrigued with the gold dredging and mining activities on the West Coast. “Furthermore,” Mr. Marie continued, “the boys think the cold weather in New Zealand a myth. Before leaving Australia they were warned of the freezing weather they would experience in New Zealand and particularly in the south, but with few exceptions the days have been sunny and delightfully mild. The Young Australians will perform at the Opera House Wanganui, tomorrow. Saturday and Monday next. Three New Zealanders have been added to the party, a Wellington boy, Ivan Lawson, who has a really glorious soprano voice, Albert Workman, piano - accordionist, and Maurice Dixon, a brilliant young dancer. These boys will appear with the Young Australians for the remainder of their New Zealand tour and will then accompany them overseas. There is an abundance of juvenile talent in New Zealand, said Mr. Marie, and we intend holding a talent quest during our matinee in Wanganui on Saturday afternoon. The winner will receive a cash prize and possible inclusion in the Young Australians Revue for a -world tour. Mr. Marie expressed his pleasure with the splendid receptions accorded the boys everywhere, and stated that the entire company which has made such a favourable impression in the cities, will appear in all country programmes.
