AIRCRAFTSMAN GAOLED
THEFT OF UNIFORM OFFENCES AT WIGRAM Per I’ren- A.w-mtion I CHRISTCHURCH, June 20. Thefts at. Wigram aerodrome are very prevalent and two detectives have been stationed there for some | time making inquiries. This indication of conditions was I given by Detective-Sergeant J. Sinclair during the hearing of a case j in Court in which Aircraftsman Harold Edmund Dickie, aged 23 years, admitted a charge of stealing on May 27, a uniform tunic, trousers, and braces, valued at £lO 2s 6d, the proI perty of Harry Nalder Major. “The Court cannot pass this sort of thing over,” commented Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., in sentencing Dickie to six weeks’ imprisonment, with ■ hard labour. The uniform had been recovered, , said the detective sergeant, but the . trouse’-'s had been shortened and ; altered and the tunic had been slightly altered. Dickie yielded to sudden tempta- I tion when he saw the tunic hanging | up, said counsel for accused. He had been in the airforce for a year.
