CITY WATER

PRESENCE OF ORGANISMS

ATTRIBUTED TO WILD PIGS FURTHER INSPECTION TO BE MADE

'‘lnformation shows that pigs abound in very great numoers and the indications point to the fact that they are responsible for the trouble,” said the city engineer, Mr. L. F. Row, at last night’s meeting of the Wanganui City Council when reporting on the recent visit to the source of the Mangahoropito Stream of Messrs. G. Fear (city sanitary inspector) and N. Annabell.

Mr. Row said that Messrs. Fear and Annabell would make a further inspection of the stream next week. The inspection was a very difficult matter because of the rough nature of the country. He would submit a report on their findings al. a later meeting of the council.

A report submitted to the council by the city engineer showed that the number of organisms in each cubic centimeter of water at various points of the Mangahoropito Stream varied at every inspection, xne water from the various points was tested by the bacteriologist at the Wanganui Public Hospital.
