TERM OF IMPRISONMENT
MAORI SENTENCED THEFT OF GENERATOR FROM CYCLE Sentenced yesterday in the Wanganui Magistrate's Court by Mr. A. S. Coleman to fourteen days' imprisonment for theft of a bicycle light generator, valued at 255, Mei Huma Takarangi, aged 24. was described by Senior-Sergeant L. R. Capp as an liresponsible type. It was stated by Senior-Sergeant Capp, conducting the case for the police, that Takarangi attended a dance' at Wanganui East and on hireturn took the generator off a bicycle and sold it. two days later for two shillings. For similar offences, Takarangi had been admitted to probation for two years. Imposing a sentence of imprisonment, Mr. Coleman informed Takarangi that he did not appear to have profited by the leniency already extended to him for similar charges.
