The Taihape Hockey Association wrote asking for the use of the Oval Domain on August 3 for the annual Joblin Cum tourney. The application was granted on the usual conditions. The mayor remarked that the council would be well advised to obtain the services of a qualified foreman; a man of experience was required as there were a lot of important works to be carried out in the borough. The council had been fortunate in having a man of the ability of the late Mr. J. M. Scott. The matter was left in the hands of the Works Committee. Cr. Loader said that he was pleased to read in a newspaper that, the Centennial Committee had approved of a ’rest room as a centennial memorial for Taihape, and that a subsidy would be fort.hcom.ing on the building. The

mayor pointed out that the matter was now before the Government which had the last say and granted the subsidy. As soon as he received advice that, the Government had given its approval and was prepared to subsidise the cost of the rest room, he would call a meeting of the local Centennial Committee.
