GOOD PROGRESS MADE ENGLAND AND WALES (British Official Wireless.) Received June 17, 5.5 p.m. RUGBy, June 16. The Minister of Health, Mr. W. E. Elliot, in a speech, said that progress made in recent years in housing and other public health? services in rural parts of the country had produced remarkable results. Infantile mortality, maternal mortality, the tuberculosis death-rate, and the general standardised death-rate for rural districts in England and Wales and outside Greater London had all appreciably declined. Speaking of the evacuation plans in the event of an emergency, Mr. Elliot said that these involved the reception and subsequent of about 3,000,000 people, mainly children.
