BOXING AT BLENHEIM

tLARRIE RAYNER BEATS LOVERIDGE JACK GRIFFIN KNOCKED OCT ( Per Press Association.) BLENHEIM, June 18. Clarrie Rayner, the Marlborough and New Zealand professional lightweight champion, scored a technical knock-out decision over Tommy Loveride (Taranaki) in the eleventh of a scheduled twelve-round non-title bout before a large crowd in the Town Hall on Saturday night. Rayner, at 9.7, was conceding 10Mb. but made light of this handicap, completely outclassing his opponent, who absorbed severe punishment in the gamest possible fashion. Ine one of his best performances in the local ring Rayner fought like a real champion, displaying vigour and speed throughout and punching beautifully with both hands. Out oi eleven rounds he won eight and two were indecisive. In the second professional bou limited to eight rounds, Vai Borcorksy (Murchison), erstwhile conquerer of the late Harold Thomas as an amateur, knocked out in the fifth round Jack Griffin (Wellington), who was making his first professional debut. Griffin, at 10.7, was a stone the heavier and had the advantage in height and reach. He was leading on points when he received a terrific right to the point of the jaw. Griffin boxed promisingly and administered a good deal of punishment before he carelessly left the opening for the deciding blow.
