Record Nominations For Winter ENTRIES TOTAL 979 BIG FINAL-DAY FIGURES A record list of nominations was received for the Wellington Racing Club's winter meeting, to be held at Trentham on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. July 4,6, and 8. The total lor the three days was 979, which is nearly 200 higher than the previous winter record of 791 in 1929. The record for the club was 902 for the 1929 summer meeting, also of three days. The record fields for this year arc on the last day, when there are 72 in the Winter Oats Handicap and 71 in the Kia Ora Handicap. The Trial Plate claims 60 entries, the Wellington Steeplechase 21, Trentham Hurdles 21, and the Winter Hurdles

A noticeable feature of the jumping races is that the nominations include the winners of all principal hurdle and . cross-country events this season.
