MUTTON PRICES IMPROVE CHILLED BEEF STEADIER Lamb market steady, with prices of second quality slightly higher. Out put remains good. Mutton market: Wethers higher, more interest by buyers; ewes meeting with better trade at unchanged prices. Beef market: Frozen beef market quiet and unchanged; chilled beef still affected by heavy supplies, but prices steadier. New Zealand porker pigs: Sales poor owing to unsuitable weather. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market quiet and unchanged. Boneless bobby veal: Firmer on the short spot supplies. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of- the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market.

Wethers: The market for lightweights is firmer; heavyweights remain steady. Ewes: The demand is moderate, but prices are firm. Chilled beef: There is a better d.emand. Pork: The market is quiet and unchanged. Trade generally is quiet.
