FARMER FOUND SHOT
I Per Pres- Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, May 21. Albert Edward Thornton, aged 37, a single man, residing at Harewood Hoad, was found dead beside a fence on his farm this afternoon with a shotgun, one barrel of which was discharged beside him. Thornton left home at 9 a.m. to feed horses and also shoot rabbits at his farm, which is about 11 miles from his home. He had said that he would be back about 10.30 for morning tea, but as he had not returned by 1 p.m. his father, becoming anxious, telephoned another son, Percy Thornton. The latter went to iiis brother's farm and after noting the horses had been fed followed footsteps across a ploughed paddock until he came to the fence, where he found his brother dead.
