The Chinese, counter-attacking in North Hupeh, have slaughtered 18,000 Japanese, defeating the encircling movement at Tangho, where two Japanese columns effected a junction earlier and became isolated from the main body owing to forced marches. The Japanese are retreating southward through the Tahung Mountains toward Tsaoyang, and are conducting a running fight with their pursuers. A Tokio report say’s that the Japanese claim they have cleared Northern Hupeh and Southern Honan of Chinese troops.
