PATEA MAORI W.I.

Mrs. Rolleston presided at the monthly meeting of the Patea Maori W.I. in the Foresters’ Hall recently. Invitations to the Ohaiawa and Hawera W.I. birthdays were received and several letters of good wishes. Discussion was held on holding a concert for the institute funds and Centennial memorial, and was deferred till later. Mrs. A. A. Carey, president of the Patea W.1., gave an interesting demonstration on rug making from old silk stockings. A competition for a worked suppercloth from a salt bag resulted:—Mrs. Hangipo 1, Mesdames Broughton and Henare 2. The travelling shilling was won by Mrs. M. Broughton. Afternoon tea concluded the meeting.
