IMPROVED DEMAND FOR MUTTON CHILLED BEEF EASIER Lamb market: Firmer, with improved prices prime lamb 2’s and B's; there is a better feeling in the market. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes, steady, with improved demand. Beef market: Frozen beef, meeting with fair Inquiry; chilled beef, slightly easier owing to heavier supplies. New Zealand porker pigs: Unchanged, with usual slow trade. New Zealand baconer pigs: Trade slow, owing to weak bacon market. The above report was received on Friday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday, May 18. Chilled beef prices are averages’ of the week on which this list.is issued. All prices are on the. basis of delivered to Smithfield market. Fitter and Co., Ltd., have received the following re;iort from their London office:—Dambs: Both demand and prices steady. Wethers: There is a little better demand. Ewes: The market is quiet and unchanged. Chiilcd beef: The market is steady. Pork: The market is quiet and unchanged. Trade generally is fair.
