SAVAGE CLUB

SECOND K.ORERO There was a large attendance at the Wanganui Savage Club's korero on Saturday night, including a number of visitors. Past Rangitira A. J. Pritchard presided and was extended greetings by Rangitira B. R. Dobbs. The programme opened with the overture, “Little Red Cap,” and the march "High School Cadets" by the club’s orchestra, under the baton of Savage O. Naumann. Mr. Atari Brown sang “On the Road to Mandalay” and as encores, “The Smugglers’ Song" and “Arise, O Sun.” This was followed by a sketch by Savages R. Tulloch and Patterson, violin solos bySavage L. Haynes, a song at the piano and a pianoforte solo by Mr. F. Payne and a lecturette by Ariki Dr. G. J. Adams. He dealt with the history of Spain up to the recent revolution and civil warfare. After kai, the orchestra, under Savage L. Haynes, presented the march “On Parade.” A sketch by Savages G. Langslow and S. Kidd was followed by two vocal numbers. “The Hills of Donegal" and “Sincerity," by Savage H. J. Sanders, and flute solos by Savage Gover. The concluding item was a sketch by Mr. W. H. Ward and Mr. W. L. Burgess. The visitors were Messrs. H. E. Heiford (Gisborne), F. J. O'Brien (Woodville), L. R. Stiehbury (Gisborne), M. E. Mymock (Palmerston North), J. Power (Feilding), A. S. Screen, I. Fraser and Dr. B. Hooper.
