Exhausted after a nightmare journey of 13 days in a leaking dinghy, during which they were constantly faced with death from drowning, sharks, and starvation, four members of the crew of a wrecked lugger arrived at Darwin. After the lugger was wrecked the men were at the mercy of the tides. Eventually the dinghy was smashed tu pieces on a rocky point near Point Charles.
